Edmonton County students named joint winners of Design Future London Challenge 2023/24
8 March 2024
Students from ROK partner schools Edmonton County School have been named as joint winners for the Design Future London Challenge 2023/24 in the ages 16 – 18 category!
The winner fought off fierce competition from 700 students, making this the second consecutive year the school has won the challenge. The judges were particularly impressed by their presentation skills and model work.
Design Future London seeks to encourage greater diversity of young Londoners to enter the build environment sector, such as planning or architecture, and all those taking part were required to design a solution or a build environment opportunity in their local area.
For this year’s challenge, students were tasked with designing a solution around a built environment opportunity in their local area using the resources provided including Minecraft Education.
The Edmonton County entry, ‘Teenz’, aims to address the issue of local gang violence and cuts in funding for youth centre provision, and support young people with their mental health, social interactions, and housing, by ”creating a safe space for young people to meet, interact, create, learn, and have fun in a safe environment”.
