Nurturing legal talent: Browne Jacobson captivates Edmonton County students at immersive law event

17 May 2023

Browne Jacobson provided 11 ROK students from Edmonton County School with a glimpse into the world of law at an immersive law event organised by the firm.

Taking place at the esteemed Browne Jacobson London offices, the event offered students – all with a budding interest in the legal profession – with a unique opportunity to explore different careers within law and to develop essential skills.

Throughout the half-day session, students were split into small groups to partake in interactive activities carefully designed to develop communication, teamwork and negotiation skills, which are fundamental in the legal field. With the support and guidance of Browne Jacobson professionals, students gained hands-on experience crafting persuasive arguments and effectively conveying their viewpoints on a range of entertaining topics. Browne Jacobson also generously provided lunch for students on the day.

Edmonton County School Careers Lead, Grace Pastore, said that the day was a prime example of the value of in-person events for students. She said: "They get the feeling of physically getting on a train, coming into work, and get to see the advantages of being in an actual office environment as opposed to just being in a school environment.

"It's that inspirational part where they're speaking to people and think: 'That could be me.' With a lot of students coming from a disadvantaged background, their view of aspiring to be a lawyer is that it isn't even in their remit – so I think the more engagement they can have with businesses and law firms, the better.

"Browne Jacobson have kindly allowed us to come in, which is amazing, and you can just see that it's making a difference – and ROK has been phenomenal in making arrangements for us and enabling us to have this opportunity."

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Browne Jacobson for hosting yet another fantastic event for ROK students. Our partnership continues to make a meaningful impact by equipping young individuals with the tools and knowledge necessary to navigate their path to success.
