ROK and Edmonton County attend Urenco STEM presentation at the Science Museum
23 November 2022
ROK was pleased to mark our first partnership session with enrichment services and fuel cycle product supplier Urenco for ROK partner school Edmonton County at the firm’s annual Richie Lecture, a STEM-focused presentation aimed at students from aged 11 to 14.
This year’s lecture took place in Wonderlab: the Equinor Gallery in the Science Museum in London on Wednesday 23 November, and was presented by Dr Ken Farquhar, an Honorary Lecturer in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of East Anglia. The exciting and engaging show was titled ‘How to save the planet in 45 minutes’ and focused on the science behind the environmental campaign to encourage households to reduce, reuse and recycle and how this links to pollution and climate change.
The Richie Lecture is part of Urenco’s wider Richie education programme, which aims to nurture the next generation of scientists and engineers to help ensure we have the expertise to continue tackling modern day issues such as climate change.
This visit forms part of ROK’s growing focus on ensuring that children and young people from diverse backgrounds are able to gain an insight into the wide range of professions available to them within the STEM field.
