ROK partner schools join London legal tour with Four Brick Court Chambers

27 July 2022

Students from ROK partner schools Clapton Girls' Academy and Edmonton County School enjoyed a unique insight into the legal system on Tuesday 27 July on a trip to the Royal Courts of Justice, facilitated by ROK and legal firm Four Brick Court Chambers.

During the visit, which forms part of ROK’s Insight into Law series of events, students were given the opportunity to meet Mrs Justice Knowles, a senior family court judge, who joined the group all for lunch at Middle Temple and spoke about her journey to law from social work to getting a pupilage at 4 Brick Court before moving to Liverpool until 2014 when she was appointed to the Upper Tribunal, Administrative Appeals Chamber. She gave tips and advice from inspiration to never give up to pursuing what you’re passionate about.

They also benefited from a talk from representatives from Four Brick Court in Chambers.

Denise Stephenson, founder and CEO of ROK, said: "We were honoured that members of Four Brick Court were able to facilitate access to the inner workings of the life of barristers today and provide an insight into ‘Legal London’!

"From the talks at their chambers this morning, the visit to Temple Church, the audience with Mrs Justice Knowles and lunch at Middle Temple, it was a full day, but the students had a blast! I had the opportunity of asking them at the end of the day how many were still interested in pursuing an interest in the law and I was very pleased to see the majority of hands shoot up!

"Both students and teachers enjoyed the insights they got today and we hope to build on this and guide these students in their future careers! Thank you so much to our partners at Four Brick Court Chambers particularly to Head of Chambers, Jayne Harrill, barristers Bibi Badejo, Polly Allison and Gina Tarawally for organising, and also to the careers leads at our partner schools, Edmonton County School and Clapton Girls' Academy!”
